About Kilan Dressage Stud

Kilan Dressage Stud is a small family run enterprise situated in the beautiful countryside on the Wales/Cheshire border. The stud was founded by Vet Eleri Jones. Our aim is to produce dressage horses capable of excelling at the highest level by selecting both Mares and Sires who offer not only exceptional bloodlines but who are themselves proven in the Dressage world, many having competed at Grand Prix level.

Our Vision

Our vision is to ensure that the horses we produce get the best possible start in life. All our foals are handled from a young age and are socialised with other horses to nurture a calm and confident temperament. We select mares based on the best dressage bloodlines, correct conformation, excellent movement and again very importantly, temperament.

Our Methods

Eleri Jones, the founder of Kilan Dressage Stud, is a partner in a busy Veterinary Practice. All the stud work is done by her and we have found that this gives us the best results with both the AI and the complete breeding process as the vet is never far away! Eleri's vast veterinary experience of handling, breeding and caring for horses is of valuable benefit to every stage of the Studs performance.

About Eleri

Eleri Jones studied Veterinary Science at the University of Liverpool. Eleri started as a Veterinary Assistant at Milfeddygon Dolgellau Vets in Gwynedd, before moving to Wern Vets in Ruthin and working her way up to Principal Vet and Partner. In addition to working at a busy veterinary practice and breeding Dressage Horses, Eleri has had two little boys. Eleri began her equestrian breeding career by successfully breeding and showing the beautiful and resplendent Welsh Mountain Pony breed. Their naturally elegant movement and majestic presence was part of the inspiration behind the vision of Kilan Dressage Stud.
